About this Activity

The Hadzabe Experience: Your day begins at dawn with the Hadzabe, one of the last true hunter-gatherer tribes on Earth. You will join the men on a fast-paced morning hunt, learning how they use handmade bows and poison-tipped arrows to track small game. You’ll witness their unique "click" language and learn essential survival skills, such as making fire from sticks, foraging for wild honey, and identifying medicinal plants.

The Datoga Experience: After spending time with the Hadzabe, you will visit the Datoga, a proud pastoralist and blacksmithing community. You’ll observe their traditional metalworking techniques, where they melt down scrap metal to forge arrowheads (which they trade with the Hadzabe) and intricate jewelry. You will also be invited into their homes to see how the women grind maize and manage the household, providing a fascinating contrast to the nomadic lifestyle of the Hadzabe.
