Jozani Forest – Half Day Tour

Led by an expert park ranger, you'll explore a "natural pharmacy" where your guide explains the medicinal properties of various indigenous plants and trees. The highlight for most visitors is encountering the rare Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys, which are found nowhere else on earth. These playful primates are habituated to humans, allowing for incredible close-up photography.

The tour continues across the road to a dedicated mangrove boardwalk. This elevated path takes you above the swampy ecosystem, where you can observe how these unique trees protect the coastline from erosion. Depending on the tide, you might spot Indian Ocean tropical fish darting between roots or colorful crabs scuttling across the mud. You'll also likely see Sykes' monkeys and perhaps even the elusive Ader's duiker.
